About the Component Database
This database is the culmination of research conducted over the past several decades. GC/MS technology has made it possible to know the individual chemical components of essential oils. Our database gives aromatherapists, researchers and health practitioners the ability to look up the evidence based medicinal properties of essential oil chemical components. The information provided in this database makes it simpler to blend for specific health concerns from a researched scientific perspective.
Organized Chemical Component Data
GC/MS results come alive through an understanding of the therapeutic properties of the individual components. The database is organized for easy reference to the medicinal actions of the individual components and the research on these components.
Each component has a specific page detailing:
- Molecular structure
- Chemical family
- Researched therapeutic properties
- Medicinal actions
- Research references
- Essential oils high in the component
- Safety considerations
Advanced Custom Search Features
The component database is searchable. Search for components by chemical family and/or specific health issues. For example, if you are interested in all the components that will offer an analgesic effect, you can choose “analgesic,” submit your search and discover a list of analgesic components. Click on each component for more information about that component. A custom glossary defines words that might not be familiar. To see the percentage of a specific component in an essential oil, use the free component search created by Aromahead Institute on Aromatics International.
